What is MHEC?
The Midwestern Higher Education Commission's (MHEC) Technologies Committee charge is to leverage the combined volume of as many of the campuses in our member states as possible by negotiating favorable agreements with technology vendors. Midwestern Higher Education Compact established this committee. The committee seeks to:
- Promote the innovative use of technology to address unique higher education needs
- Develop strategic programs to provide access to technology hardware, software, and services
- Advocate the interest of higher education in the development of new products and services
- Expand information exchange opportunities
- Identify, develop, and leverage the leadership abilities of the memberships.
The Technologies Committee is comprised of college, system, and university chief information officers; telecommunications directors; computing service directors; procurement officers; and educational planners representing both individual campuses and systems in the MHEC member states.

The competitively awarded contract establishes ceiling pricing for wavelength division multiplexing equipment, software, and related services.
