Memberships

The Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives (AREA) is a member-owned federation of 22 electric distribution cooperatives. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is a member of AREA and serves as wholesale power supplier to eight member cooperatives located in the northern part of Alabama. PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, also a member of AREA, provides wholesale power to 12 member cooperatives in the central and southern sections of Alabama. Southern Power also supplies wholesale power to Alabama cooperatives.

The Alaska Telecom Association was founded as Alaska Telephone Association in 1949, prior to statehood.Our member companies are working to identify and employ all available resources to engineer, construct, and operate a comprehensive, modern broadband network throughout Alaska, connecting all Alaskans.

The objective of ANMTA is to enhance and promote telecommunications services for our members in Arizona and New Mexico. With the direction of our board members we will set the highest standards to provide affordable and reliable communications services with a competent and professional work force.

The Arkansas Telecommunications Association (ATA) was founded in 1922 to promote cooperation in all matters of interest to the telecommunications business and/or any other business devoted to or dealing with the transmission or communication of sounds, signals or data in any form in the State of Arkansas.

The Broadband Association of North Dakota represents members of North Dakota's independent telephone industry, working to ensure that our residents have access to the information-technologies that allow them to compete with anyone in the world and a telecommunications network that is second-to-none.

California Communications Association (CalCom), is a statewide non-profit trade association comprised of incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs) providing telecommunications services within California. In addition to these core members, over 115 providers of products and services to the industry are CalCom Associate Members.

Established in 1963, the stated purpose of the organization is to promote, foster, and provide a forum for the advancement of the social and economic well being of the people of the State of Colorado through the universal availability and affordability of quality telecommunications service.

Established in 2001, and the only all-fiber trade association in the Americas, the Fiber Broadband Association provides advocacy, education and resources to companies, organizations and communities who want to deploy the best networks through fiber to the home, fiber to the business and fiber everywhere. Our member-led association collaborates with industry allies to propel fiber deployment forward for a better broadband future here and around the world.

The Georgia Telecommunications Association (GTA) was established by its core members to provide a vehicle through which their interests could be represented in legislative, regulatory and public arenas. The Active members of GTA are comprised of Georgia's Incumbent Independent Local Exchange Carriers (ILECs) also defined as Tier 2 companies in Georgia's Telecom Act of 1995. GTA has twenty-nine (29) Active members.

The Illinois Broadband & Telecommunications Association (IBTA) and its professional staff serve at the direction of the corporation's Board of Directors and are guided by it's standing and special committees. There are also a number of ad hoc committees created to address special, one-time issues. As new members join the Association, additional committees will be formed to serve our diverse membership.

The Indiana Broadband and Telecommunications Association (IBTA) is a non-profit trade association representing Indiana's telecommunications industry. Our members include 40 local competitive wireline and wireless companies and over 125 companies that supply goods and services to telecommunications companies.

The Iowa Communications Alliance represents more than 130 community-based telecommunications providers who offer broadband, telephone and digital television service to rural Iowans. We provide leadership and advocacy in state and federal legislative and regulatory matters to promote an environment that allows our members the opportunity to succeed in serving their communities and customers. We strive to achieve "better telecommunications through education" as we educate members, policymakers, legislators, customers and the media about the indispensable services our members provide to their communities, customers and the entire state of Iowa.

The Kentucky Telecom Association (KTA) is the leading state trade association supporting and promoting the telecommunications industry in the Commonwealth.  Membership is open to all telecom companies operating in the Commonwealth as well as manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of communications equipment and materials.

The Minnesota Rural Electric Association (MREA) is the Minnesota Statewide representing the electric cooperatives in the state of Minnesota. We foster unity among and provide service to all of Minnesota’s 50 electric cooperatives.

The Minnesota Telecom Alliance is a trade association that advocates and represents the interests of nearly 100 small, medium and large companies that provide advanced telecommunications services like voice, data, wireless video, and high-speed Internet access to Minnesota’s metropolitan and rural communities.

The Montana Telecommunications Association is a non-profit corporation representing its members before the Montana Public Service Commission, other state and federal agencies, Congress and the Montana Legislature.  MTA member companies provide local residential and business phone services, as well as a full-spectrum of other telecommunications services.

As the national service organization that represents America’s electric cooperatives, NRECA works to empower electric cooperatives and to help ensure their long-term success.

The National Telecommunications Cooperative Association, an association of small, rural, community-based communications providers, is dedicated to improving the quality of life in rural communities through the advocacy of broadband and other advanced communications infrastructure and services.

The Nebraska Telecommunications Association is a trade association representing the local telecommunications industry in Nebraska.  The active membership is comprised of 36 local exchange carriers operating in Nebraska.

The Nevada Telecommunications Association will support its member organizations through regulatory, legislative and public relations advocacy.   The Association will enhance the communications business environment, advance the business interests and promote the reputation of its member organizations.  The Association will foster cooperation, mutual respect and unity among its members in pursuit of the Associations goals and objectives.

The New York State Telecommunications Association, Inc.'s (NYSTA's) membership includes the state's premier telecommunications service providers which serve virtually all individuals and businesses in the state.  Currently, the association is comprised of 54 telecommunications carriers, including 19 internet service providers and more than 170 associate members.

North Dakota Telephone Association was organized in 1982 and is comprised of 18 Local Exchange Carriers as Active members, 10 companies serving as Affiliate/Sustaining members, and nearly 100 Vendor and Supplier companies as Associate Members.

ORBA is a consortium of independent telcos and CLECs working together, sharing knowledge and commonalities to promote and serve rural areas of Ohio with Broadband.

The Ohio Telecom Association (OTA) is a statewide trade association that promotes the common interests of telecommunications companies serving and employing Ohioans. The OTA currently represents 41 telecommunications providers, 3 wireless providers and over 100 associate member companies that supply goods and services to the telecommunications industry.

25 electric cooperatives serve more than 380,000 homes and businesses in 77 of Ohio’s 88 counties — guided by the seven principles upon which they were founded. All of our cooperatives are members of Touchstone Energy — a national network of electric cooperatives across 46 states that provides resources to help member cooperatives and their employees better engage and serve their member-owners. Together, we are Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives.

Oklahoma Rural Broadband Association's mission is to promote the common interest of all Association members, to educate the general public about the telecommunications industry and its programs and to enhance the public’s knowledge and perception of the telecommunications industry and Association members.

ORECA represents and promotes the interests of electric cooperatives and their members including protecting local control for electric cooperatives’ governing boards, opposing unnecessary regulation without demonstrated benefits, maintaining the ability of cooperatives to provide new member services, and supporting regional efforts to maintain the benefits to cooperatives of hydro-based power at least cost.

The Oregon Telecommunications Association has served as the cornerstone of the telecommunications industry in Oregon for over 90 years. The association supports a VISION of the future communications environment as one in which all consumers will enjoy new levels of choice and control over a wide range of services, delivered at reasonable prices over a public switched broadband network providing seamless interconnectivity with private networks.

The Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association (PREA) serves as the unified voice for electric cooperatives in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Together, these cooperatives represent more than 600,000 consumers in over 230,000 rural households, businesses and industries in the two states.

The mission of Pennsylvania Telephone Association is to advocate for its members and their customers and shareholders.  The strategies of the organization include campaigns to educate legislators and regulators about our members' broadband capabilities and progress, advances in technology impacting our industry, and maintaining focus on key "voice" issues.

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers or SCTE is a non-profit professional association for the advancement of technology, standards and workforce education related to cable telecommunications engineering. Founded in 1969 as The Society of Cable Television Engineers, SCTE and its global arm, the International Society of Broadband Experts (ISBE), have a current membership of more than 19,000 individuals.

The South Carolina Telecommuniations and Broadband Association is a non-profit organization representing approx. 25 local telecommunications service providers, serving nearly 4 million people in the state of South Carolina.

Formed in 1942, SDREA proudly serves as the member services organization for electric cooperatives operating in South Dakota. SDREA is devoted to unifying, promoting and protecting the interests of member electric cooperatives in South Dakota by providing leadership, training, communication, legislative representation and other member services.

SDTA’s membership is comprised of South Dakota’s cooperative, small commercial, municipal, and tribal telecommunications companies. In an industry where technology and service demands constantly change, the South Dakota Telecommunications Association is an essential resource for its members in regulatory and legislative advocacy.

The Tennessee Broadband Association (TBA) based in Nashville, Tennessee is an industry trade organization that includes all types of telecommunications service providers as well as suppliers to the industry. TBA offers timely regulatory and legislative information and provides a forum for discussion of industry matters.  We facilitate issues resolution, consensus building in areas where common interest exists, and provide opportunities for partnering and networking.

Membership association of 60 municipal and county electric power providers that serve over 2.4 million homes and businesses across Tennessee. Our members serve two-thirds of the electric customers in Tennessee and distribute three-quarters of the power sold in the state. We are proud to be community owned and customer focused.

Texas Electric Cooperatives represents the interests of 75 electric cooperatives with more than 3 million members throughout the state. TEC serves its members by providing products and services that help sustain cooperative businesses in the 21st century.

TSTCI is a statewide association of the small, rural telephone cooperatives and independent local and/or family-owned telephone companies. TSTCI members are committed to providing rural Texas with the best telecommunications available. The telecommunications network (“The Network”) of Texas depends on our member companies’ individual pieces of “The Network”.

Texas Telephone Association (TTA) founded in 1905 is a trade association supporting incumbent local exchange telephone companies in Texas.  There are 61 incumbent local exchange telephone companies providing service to more than 13 million access lines in 1,244 exchanges.

URTA members are committed to providing rural Utah with the best telecommunications services available. URTA is an association representing 14 independent telephone companies which serve approximately 80% of the geographical area of the state to over 96,000 residents.  Thanks to the URTA member companies, residents of rural Utah enjoy the latest advances in telecommunications services.

The Utilities Telecom Council (UTC) is a global trade association dedicated to creating a favorable business, regulatory, and technological environment for companies that own, manage, or provide critical telecommunications systems in support of their core business. Founded in 1948 to advocate for the allocation of additional radio spectrum for power utilities, UTC has evolved into a dynamic organization that represents electric, gas, and water utilities; natural gas pipelines; critical infrastructure companies; and other industry stakeholders.

The object and purpose of WSTA is to encourage, develop, foster and stimulate the growth and represent and address the mutual interest and needs as defined by its membership.

The Wyoming Telecommunications Association's mission is to provide information, representation and general assistance to its Members in regulatory, legislative, and general business matters relating to the telecommunications industry.  The WTA consists of 12 independent local exchange telephone companies that are located in Wyoming.  These companies have provided local telephone service in their communities for decades.
